The film is '…a perfect mix of Hitchcock and Lubitsch' said Hungarian actor and director Laslo Szabo, who was one of the jurors at the 24th Avignon Film Festival where the film was screened in June 2007.

‘Medium Rare’ is the first (short) film of Finger Store Films, a production company set up by Debbie Young and Stefan Stuckert, the producer / director team that made Channel 4's award winning ‘Derren Brown: Trick of the Mind’.

Based on ‘Zwei bei Tisch’, a short story by German cult author Hans Herbst, the script attracted private funding and caught the attention of Hubbard Casting (‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘King Kong’) who managed to engage Steve Furst (Orange Ads & ‘Little Britain’) & Sara Stewart (‘Sugar Rush’, ‘Batman Begins’) on the project. ‘Medium Rare’ also features Gordon Alexander and Derren Brown in his first ever acting role.

The film has already created some controversy. In June it was selected for Shanghai International Film Festival 2007, but was later withdrawn by the Chinese Government due to strict censorship.

‘Medium Rare’ had its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August 2007.
